I.B. students show off their paintings at a craft event

International Baccalaureate (IB), offered exclusively at Cooper Academy and Fresno High, is internationally recognized as the most cohesive, comprehensive and challenging high school program available. The IB Programme offers students the opportunity to earn college credit during high school and ensures that students leave high school prepared for college and career.  IB brings core values of scholarship, community service and critical thinking to every classroom.

All students who attend Cooper Academy are part of the school-wide accelerated IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in grades 6-8, which features student-centered, inquiry-based and hands-on learning across all disciplines. Courses carry with them a GATE designation and expose students to an accelerated pathway of courses to prepare them to pursue the rigors of the IB Diploma Programme at Fresno High.

All students continuing in grades 9 and 10 at Fresno High are part of the school-wide IB MYP. Students who follow the path of the Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12 also are required to complete a personal project, a community service project, and a research project. Students may earn a second diploma, in addition to their high school diploma, which is nationally and internationally recognized as an indicator of college and career readiness.
